Walmart promo codes: who issues them, how many you can use, and exactly when one stops working

Read on Walmart’s own help pages on September 24, 2026. The thing most pages get wrong: Walmart does not publish a list of promo codes. Its own terms say codes come from Marketplace sellers on select items. That single sentence explains why a code you found elsewhere often fails at checkout. Anything we could not read is listed under “What we could not verify”, marked Unconfirmed.

Answer first: Walmart states that some Marketplace sellers may offer promocodes on select items — the codes are the seller’s, not Walmart’s. At checkout you may enter a maximum of five unique promo codes per transaction, but unless the offer says otherwise promo codes may not be combined with other offers. A code dies when the offer window closes, when supplies run out, when you return a qualifying item, or if you break the terms. Walmart publishes no code list and no expiry calendar, so no code is quoted here as live.

Five codes per order — but not on top of each other

Walmart states both halves of this in consecutive lines. They sound contradictory until you read them together.

Maximum five unique promo codes per transactionWalmart: “You may enter a maximum of five (5) unique promo codes is allowed per transaction.” They must be unique codes, and all qualifying items must be bought in the same transaction, shipped to a single address.

Does Walmart publish a list of current promo codes?

No. On the page where it sets out promo code terms, Walmart says only that “Some Marketplace sellers may offer promocodes on select items.” We found no official code list, so no code is presented here as live.

How many codes can I use in one order?

Walmart: “You may enter a maximum of five (5) unique promo codes is allowed per transaction.” In the same terms it says that unless otherwise specified, promo code offers may not be combined with other offers, and all applicable offers are evaluated at checkout.

Why did my code do nothing at checkout?

The most common cause is in Walmart’s own instructions: the item must be sold by the seller offering the code. Walmart says to check the “Sold by” box below the delivery options, and to select the same item from the correct seller if it does not match.

When does a code expire?

Walmart gives no fixed dates. It says offers are “limited time offers. Valid while supplies last”, that a discount will not apply if you do not purchase within the offer period, and that an offer “may be modified, canceled, or terminated at any time without notice.”

I returned part of the order — do I keep the discount?
